Very few people have seen me write the wall from beginning to end. My cousin Donovan and his wife Julie have. My assistant Kim, my childhood friend Matthew Mitchell, my dad and a friend Valoree Murray. I think that is pretty much it. Oh, I guess I have as well.
It is a very long day that is 90 minutes of setting the wall, 10 hours (at least) of writing and then an hour of talking with people and listening to their stories. I wouldn’t trade it for anything. It is an honor to spend 12 hours each time I do it and I hope one day you will spend 12 hours with me at the wall. Just to understand the scope of the sacrifice. When you see the wall written out the scope of the sacrifice will blow you away. But if you can witness the 10-12 hours of writing the scope of the sacrifice will impact you even more I believe.
If you live in the DFW area I will be writing the wall at Celebrate Freedom concert June 29, 2013 at Southfork Ranch and July 4th at Billy Bob’s at Willie Nelson’s concert.
I hope to make it to your city soon, yet if I can’t. Here is a video of 10 hours in 55 seconds
